Thank
you for your interest in our island cottage.
It
truly is a wonderful place to spend time.
The
house has all of the conveniences,
but
has the seclusion and charm of an island retreat.
Some of the things that you should know as a temporary resident are:
- There are absolutely no stores on the island and that you must bring all necessary items
with you.
- The ferry will take all cargo free of charge, but you will leave your car on the mainland
and all groceries and supplies will be placed in the large metal boxes or the wooden trays to be hoisted
onto the boat.
- In the village of Chester you will find that there is a very well stocked Grocery store
(Save Easy), Pharmacy, Patisserie/Bakery, Liquor store, Tavern, Restaurants, Playhouse (featuring both
local and well known talent), Hardware store, and Gift Shops.
- Big Tancook is generally the second stop on the ferry run from Chester
except on Friday evening. Just ask to be sure. Travel between the islands is free and Big Tancook is an interesting afternoon
trip.
There
is a canteen (Carolyn’s) and a great local craft shop (Popplerock).
You reservation will be added to our calendar and confirmed as soon as we receive
your deposit of half the cost of your stay. The remainder of the cost may be paid upon arrival. We are happy to meet you at
the ferry and help get you acquainted with the island.
You are requested to please supply your home and work addresses and phone numbers
and a description of the number of people that will be staying. We would also like to have advance notice of any pets that
will be staying.
We are happy to answer any further questions you might have either by phone 980-0234 or through e-mail at chancel@staff.ednet.ns.ca
